Louis Roederer Brut Vintage Rose 2009 Champagne 75 cl
Louis Roederer Vintage Rose is a unique and rare Champagne of exceptional style thanks to the very particular way in which it is made.
Indeed, Louis Roederer is one of the few Houses that still use maceration on skins, a delicate method by which Pinot Noir grapes are left to macerate on the press for several hours to extract more fruit and colour. Skin maceration requires highly concentrated and aromatic grapes that only grow on the very old vines of Cumieres and only in exceptional vintages.
Blend: 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay.
Maturation: an average of four years ageing on lees, plus more than six months after disgorging.
Dosage: 11-12g/L of sugar from the dosage liqueur.
Tasting notes: Deepish pink appearance. Berry aromas (strawberries, redcurrants and cherries), followed by scents of plants mixed with warmer notes of jam and gingerbread.
Generously vinous attack. Honeyed fruit flavours followed by more complex toasty and woody impressions.
Choice of food: thanks to its structure and vinosity, Louis Roederer Brut Rose; is an excellent accompaniment to meals and the perfect accompaniment to fish or meats (lamb, veal, guinea-fowl or even pheasant).
To round off the meal, Brut Rose is an ideal complement to creamy cheeses or a soft fruit pudding.
- The Rose Vintage is made using the saignee method and is considered an expression of the Vallee de la Marne where the Pinot Noir benefits from the additional warmth of the light reflected off the Marne, giving the wine fuller, fruitier flavours. The Rose 2009 cuvee is aged for four years on lees and is left for an additional and minimum period of six months after disgorging to attain optimal maturity.
- The house has been conducting trials with organic and biodynamic viticulture across 40 ha and currently has the largest landholding of such vineyards in the region.
